Securing the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Power Piping Authorization

Kalamazoo, Michigan - W. Soule & Company has applied for and achieved the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Power Piping (PP) Authorization. The PP authorization gives W. Soule & Company the authority to produce power piping under the applicable rules of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. The PP Authorization is an additional certification held by W. Soule & Company which also carries the ASME U and S Authorizations and the National Board R Authorization for pressure vessel and pressure piping repairs.

“The ability to comply with the PP requirements allows W. Soule & Company to better serve customers in the power, chemical, petrochemical, and oil and gas industries”, explains Ned Hawkins, W. Soule & Company Corporate Quality Director. According to Mr. Hawkins, W. Soule & Company has worked under the ASME U and S stamps for many years, building unfired pressure vessels and boiler pressure components and piping. Mr. Hawkins believes the addition of the PP authorization completes the company’s code fabrication and site construction offering. W. Soule & Company has worked in a core range of industries ranging from pharmaceutical, to energy, to power, to chemical, and to petrochemical. The company is focused on expanding the volume of business in these industries and needed the PP Authorization to comply with industry standards. Hawkins stated, “We made the investment into the PP stamp so we can meet the requirements of customers. We have over 120,000 sq ft of fabrication space and many skilled code welders. We added the PP certification so we are a one-stop code fabricator and contractor for customers”.
