Apprentice Pipefitter Competition Winner – Matt Gotham

Gotham pipefitter apprentice winner

Congratulations Matt Gotham, winner of the Michigan United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprentice competition in the  pipefitter division.

“Matt is a great talent on our team,” says Lee Burnham, Regional Manager. “It’s no surprise to me or his co-workers that he won.”

The competition challenges participants to written and practical examination in ares such at ISO drawings, rigging and piping layout.

He qualified to represent Michigan at the regional competition on June 3, 2019 in Troy, Michigan where he placed a VERY strong second.

Matt has worked out of the W. Soule office in Saginaw, Michigan, for five years. His talent takes him to work on jobs at W. Soule customers such as Dow and Hemlock SemiConductor.

This is the third year in a row a W. Soule apprentice has won. Eric Matula and Norm O’Meara IV won in the welding competitions in 2017 and 2018.
